Highlight Control extracts details from the highlights of an image. The Plug-in works works both with 8- and 16-bit RGB images and is designed for the Windows version of Photoshop 6.0 and higher and Photoshop Elements. Highlight Control works by selectively reducing gamma and increasing contrast on bright areas of the image using an automatic mask. It analyzes the image and creates the mask showing which areas of the image will be affected by processing (appearing as a dark area on the [mask] view). After the mask is created, the Plug-in applies the desired correction to the affected areas of the image and displays the result. The user can then adjust the settings and preview the result in real time. The Highlight Control Plug-in works with images from all digital cameras, but cameras capable of capturing image in 16 bit will yield higher quality results.
