The image is broken into jazzy random blocks of pixels. For the Fade In transitions, ever more pixel blocks change from black to showing the incoming image. For Fade Out transitions, ever more blocks show black until the outgoing image is gone. The blocks can be 2, 4, 8, or 16 pixels square.
